High Low Travel

Everyone has a different travel budget and style. We’ve gone through multiple iterations ourselves. What we’ve settled on is what we like to term High Low Travel. It’s a fairly intuitive term that captures the philosophy that best travel experiences exist across a range of environments and price points, from luxury to bargain.

We might go to a two star Michelin restaurant for lunch, and get $3 street food for dinner. High Low Travel might mean dropping hundreds of dollars on handmade leather goods in Taipei, while wearing the $2 t-shirts and $5 frames we bargained for at a night market the week before.

When looking at places to stay, we search out boutique hotels, hostels, or unique spaces on AirBnB rather than chain hotels or even luxury resorts, and as a rule keep it under $150 a night, $100 if possible. And while we’re obsessed with the history of a place, we’re unlikely to spend all of our days in museums or going to the most popular sites, preferring to wander around more residential or up and coming neighborhoods. This is not a place to come strictly for travel suggestions on the cheap, nor is it exclusively for splurges.

We aim for a mix.

Not all of our decisions are for everyone, but we hope that a few will speak to you.
